  4. Maet! Imma miss you man, thank you for everything on the ONT. You brought me to a few new sites that I truly enjoy and get something out of and for that alone - among all the other things you did for the ONT - I will be forever grateful.

Hell I may start hanging out over here too!

  5. Oh. We're not using HQ hamsters.

We're good to go then, Captain.

  6. Hey, man - thanks for all those overnight posts over at Ace's, which were always my favorite part of going there on any given day. Best of luck whatever road you decide looks most interesting. Cheers!

  8. I may have posted 1 time in all the years I lurked AOS/ONT. Seldom did the day end without my nightly fix.

Thanks Maet, you've been my nightcap of choice...

  14. Thanks for the ONTs Maet.
It has sometimes taken over an hour to read the content I was interested in, so you have kept things interesting.
    You've been bookmarked.

  15. Thank you for your long and honorable ONT service on behalf of morons and moronettes from Times Square to Timbuktu. I'll be bookmarking your blog in hopes you'll continue to post good stuff and good links.

  16. Hey, you already have better content than my blog. Good luck Maet!

  17. I read AoSHQ a half-dozen times a day easy (and lurk, oh do I ever), and the ONT was my bedtime reading every night. I think it was the best thing on the Web night in and night out. Thanks for all of your efforts, Maet. Gonna miss it.

  19. Ditto what Snake said above - big time lurker over at AoS but it was the last site I checked before bed to get my ONT fix (and to not end the day on such a sucky world-going-to-shit note). Cheers all the great links and gifs and what not - many of those things got passed on to friends and family. Was much appreciated and sorry that I didn't say so before now. --tdpwells

  26. I was also a constant lurker on the ONT, maybe commented once or twice. It was one of my very favorite things to read every single day it was there. So thank you for that.

  27. You've been holding this off since 2002? Damn.

  28. Been a big fan of ONT probably since 2008. Thank you.

  30. another of your fans...as a West coast lurker, I always appreciate the ONT. So many links to pursue and the yoko ono punishment nights left to go back and read the threads where the misdeeds happened

  34. Dang! I'll miss you over at Ace's, but I hope to read much more of you here. Thank you for your years of work.

And yeah, when it quits being fun it's time to change.

  35. The horde can be intimidating to a newbie. But your ONT was always a welcoming place. It's why I'm a moron.

Thanks for everything, Maet (except Yoko). The best best of luck to you.

    Keep your hand on it.

  39. Yo, Maet. Just read your ONT farewell, or "au revoir," pace Nixon. I'm more on (get it?) the day shift but your posts were appreciated. Anyway, I got this page bookmarked so I'll be checking you out from time to time.

  40. Thanks for all the ONTs over the years. I rarely commented but I always read them. Maybe I'll start commenting here.

  41. Thank you for the wonderful ONTs, Maet, and even the non-wonderful ones (Yoko-intense ones). Looks like you've been thinking about this since February - thanks for giving us 6 more months. All the best to you and your family, and Godspeed.

  42. Maet, I rarely comment to the ONT, mainly because it is my wake up, 0 dark 30 thread. But I have thoroughly enjoyed your posts for the last several years. I have already bookmarked your blog and look forward to your new posts. These are dark times, but they will get better. Laughter helps. Good luck and Godspeed.

  45. No offense to ace or the other cobs over at his place, but your ONTs had become the best thing about that blog. Enjoy your free time!

  46. Maetenloch,

I've been reading ace daily since about 2007-08. But my favorite part has always been your ONT. Sometimes I would delay going to bed just to read what you're going to post. Your stuff was by far the most interesting, entertaining, and hilarious of all.

Thanks for the years of entertainment! Let it be known that you were much appreciated.

  47. Maetenloch,

One more thing...I always knew your ONTs were a lot of work to produce. But I always wondered how on earth you found all of those entries from such a diverse (G-d, I hate that word) set of subjects and obscure websites.

Could you please, please, please, make a post about how you did it? I've really wondered a lot about it.

  48. Wish you the best Maet. It's always fun finding a little nugget of the internet you can connect with. Such was the ONT for me since'08. You made the Obama years palatable brother. All good things must end. I'm sure you feel a heavy burden has been lifted, but please share your bountiful finds on this blog when you feel inspired. Thanks for some insightful moments and hilarious WTFs, and we'll sorely miss you.

  50. Add my voice to the chorus of long-time lurkers, but ONT regulars. You made it into an internet institution, right up there with Lilek's Bleat. Going to miss it, but agree it just seems getting dark and cranky. I will keep an eye out for you elsewhere on the internets.

  51. Going to be missed sometimes those ONT's were the only enjoyment I found on the internet that day.

  53. Maet,

I've been reading your ONTs since you started. They were consistently very, very good. Thanks for all your hard work over the years.

Sorry that they are coming to an end, but makes sense. I'll add your blog to my bookmarks. Hopefully you post here regularly!

  55. I missed your last ONT - slept early for once. I will miss it - but I hope you don't disappear completely so I don't miss you.
Truthfully your ONTs were consistently the best content on the HQ, I would go back and read content in the mornings when I had missed them.
Come hang around sometime at the goodreads group, or my blog bookhorde, or my home crayfisher for politics stuff.

  56. Maet, thanks so much for the ONT at Ace of Spades. I'm not on the site at night but always checked out your work in the AM. My only bone to pick is that I'm not so sure that you are out of synch with the commenters. Your civil and insightful commentary will be missed.

  57. "But I always wondered how on earth you found all of those entries from such a diverse (G-d, I hate that word) set of subjects and obscure websites." Try the word 'catholic' instead. "(especially of a person's tastes) including a wide variety of things; all-embracing.
synonyms: universal, diverse, diversified, wide, broad, broad-based, eclectic, liberal, latitudinarian;"

I'm also here hoping to say my thanks for all the painstaking ONT work. I was trying to explain to my husband what I lost last night but he couldn't really understand. ONT was very catholic and wonderful and sometimes even more than that. To say you aggregated links just doesn't begin to describe it. So I'll use a word that's overused here in hipster Portland. It was curated. And thanks for that.

Best of luck in all your future endeavors.

  61. Maet, just adding my voice to those who were grateful for your ONT posts over the years. I'm a NOLA area native and am back in the country after living abroad for the past 14 years. If you're out and about in the area, let me know; I'd love to buy you a beer sometime.

  62. Wow, really going to miss your ONT's, lurker not a commenter, but I read the content not the comments. Going to be sorely missed.

  63. Maetenloch,
I'll miss you & all you've done in addition to ONTs, banning repeat offenders as soon as possible. It was a wonder if I caught that particular one that used to post between 5-6 pm & what you & the HQ added to change his words.

Thank you for all that hard work
    Carol

Thank you for the hand crafted premium grade reading material. It was obviously time consuming.
